A growing global movement
Since the inaugural meeting in 2016, the International Thyroid NOTES Conference has trained hundreds of surgeons from dozens of countries, expanding from lectures and live surgery to the world’s largest soft-cadaver TOETVA hands-on program.

1st International Thyroid NOTES Conference
The 1st International Thyroid NOTES Conference was held on 3–4 February 2016. Its primary objective was to promote transoral thyroidectomy and to bring together the pioneers of the technique. At this inaugural conference, the program consisted of scientific lectures and live surgical demonstrations of transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy via the vestibular approach (TOETVA), a technique pioneered by Angkoon Anuwong. The conference was highly successful and marked a significant milestone in the global development of transoral thyroid surgery.

2nd International Thyroid NOTES Conference
The 2nd International Thyroid NOTES Conference was held on 8–9 March 2017. It introduced hands-on training in transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy via the vestibular approach (TOETVA) using soft cadavers, achieving approximately 99% tissue fidelity through a proprietary preservation technique — allowing participants to practise the operation with near-human realism.

3rd International Thyroid NOTES Conference
The 3rd International Thyroid NOTES Conference was held on 6–7 March 2018 in collaboration with the Department of Otolaryngology, Chulalongkorn Hospital, focusing on transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy via the vestibular approach (TOETVA). Training used specially preserved cadavers with approximately 99% tissue fidelity, with 15 cadaveric training stations available.

4th International Thyroid NOTES Conference
The 4th International Thyroid NOTES Conference was held on 28–29 May 2019. It featured hands-on training in transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy via the vestibular approach (TOETVA) using soft cadavers, with the workshop expanded to 18 stations due to demand. A concurrent nursing program was organised separately, and the conference was again met with great success.

5th International Thyroid NOTES Conference
The 5th International Thyroid NOTES Conference was held on 8–9 June 2023. It continued its collaboration with the Department of Otolaryngology, Chulalongkorn Hospital, Chulalongkorn University, enabling participants to engage in hands-on training in transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy via the vestibular approach (TOETVA) using soft cadavers. Owing to high demand, the cadaveric workshop was expanded to 16 stations — the largest cadaveric dissection program organised for the conference up to that time.

6th International Thyroid NOTES Conference
The 6th International Thyroid NOTES Conference was held on 12–14 June 2024, continuing its collaboration with the Department of Otolaryngology, Chulalongkorn Hospital, Chulalongkorn University. For this edition the conference was extended to a three-day format to provide more comprehensive, in-depth education in TOETVA and transoral robotic thyroidectomy (TORT), as well as ultrasound-guided thermal ablation. The scientific program covered detailed aspects of clinical practice — indications, preoperative preparation, surgical techniques and postoperative management — and the cadaveric workshop ran 16 stations across the hands-on day (48 participants).
