Scarless thyroid surgery, taught by the people who invented it

A state-of-the-art scientific program of expert lectures, 4K live surgical demonstrations, video pearls and round-table discussion on the latest advances in transoral thyroid surgery.

In brief

The International Thyroid NOTES Conference is the flagship meeting for Transoral Endoscopic Thyroidectomy Vestibular Approach (TOETVA) — a scarless thyroidectomy performed through the mouth. Held in Bangkok since 2016 and led by TOETVA pioneer Dr. Angkoon Anuwong, the 2026 edition combined lectures, live TOETVA & robotic surgery, and soft-cadaver hands-on training for surgeons from around the world.

Why TOETVA

A truly scarless thyroidectomy

Conventional thyroid surgery leaves a permanent scar across the front of the neck. TOETVA removes the thyroid entirely through the mouth, so there is no visible scar at all — with recovery and safety comparable to open surgery in experienced hands.

  • No visible neck scar — incisions hidden inside the lip
  • Excellent cosmetic and quality-of-life outcomes
  • Suitable for many benign nodules and selected cancers
  • Now performed in more than 45 countries worldwide

Answers

Frequently asked questions

What is TOETVA?
TOETVA (Transoral Endoscopic Thyroidectomy Vestibular Approach) is a scarless thyroid operation performed entirely through three small incisions inside the lower lip, leaving no visible scar on the neck. It was pioneered by Dr. Angkoon Anuwong in Bangkok and is now performed in more than 45 countries.
When and where is the 7th International Thyroid NOTES Conference held?
